Who are we?
We are a vibrant Group, offering Beavers, Cubs and Scouts for the young people of the villages of Stanley Common, West Hallam, Stanley and Mapperley.
We are in the fortunate position of having our own Scout Headquarters, the Bartram Centre. This benefits from an enviable position next to a playing field, nature reserve and numerous country walks, with easy access to Shipley Park. All of our Sections take advantage of this position for cycle rides, nature walks, night hikes, scavenger hunts and many other adventures throughout the year.
We have a dedicated, skilled and caring team of Leaders, Assistant Leaders, Young Leaders and Parent Helpers. All of these work very hard to provide a full and balanced program of activities.
We are supported by an energetic Executive Committee, who fund raise for us throughout the year and also have the generous patronage of the Powtrell and Scargill Trusts. This financial support has enabled us to refurbish our Headquarters and update all of our camping equipment, as well as allowing us subsidise Scouting activities, so parents do not have to bear the full costs.
Fund raising efforts has included Bangers and Brass, a Proms evening with Rolls Royce Brass Band and our now famous pop up tearooms at the West Hallam Well Dressings. Through these events we have forged and maintained excellent relationships with local community groups.
